There are lots of ways to rate books as a reviewer - stars, scores, letters - but this blog is a reflection of me, so why not keep it simple? I rate books here using the same system I do at home - shelf location!
BOTTOM SHELF
Don't get me wrong - these aren't bad books to avoid! I may never even include those on the Bookshelf at all. These books were worth finishing and certainly worth a read once, but not things I'll likely ever revisit, or enthusiastically insist someone else reads. They're pleasant, but fairly forgettable.

MIDDLE SHELF
The solid players! Most books will find their home on the middle shelf. I liked them, would read them again, and definitely recommend to others, particularly if there's a unique element or subject some readers like to indulge in.

TOP SHELF
These are special. Books on the top shelf have moved me, healed me, delighted me, and found a permanent and important place in my life. These are the books I would give (a new copy, never mine!) to a friend, not just recommend. If you get these books, you get ME. They've made me change or deepen the way I think about life, or introduced me to something or someone I was missing.
